Starlight Super Swim – February 2025

We're diving in to brighten the lives of sick kids during Starlight Super Swim this February

From February 1st to 28th, 2025, Northcote Aquatic & Recreation Centre will join Australia’s biggest national charity swim challenge and aim to raise funds that brighten the lives of 128,000 seriously ill children who will access Starlight’s hospital programs throughout the year.

We have a strong local swimming community at our Centre, so we are inviting our members and visitors to join us and take part in the Starlight Super Swim this month. Push yourself, raise funds, and be a Super Swim Hero for sicks kids this February. Join our team and start fundraising! Northcote Aquatic & Recreation Centre will match every donation made to our team.

Funds raised from the Super Swim challenge will go directly towards supporting Starlight’s hospital programs, including Captain Starlight and Starlight Express Rooms, which provide a much-needed positive distraction and comfort during hospital stays.

No matter your age or fitness level, everyone can participate in the Starlight Super Swim challenge. You can swim at a location of your choice: your home pool, the beach, a lake, or your local swim Centre. This year, Starlight is encouraging individuals, businesses, sporting teams and swim schools to take part in the Super Swim Challenge.

If you take part in the 2025 Super Swim challenge you won’t be swimming alone, you’ll be joining an all-star lineup of Super Swim ambassadors including Mick Fanning OAM, Olympic Gold Medallist Zoe Stubblety-Cook, Brooke Hanson OAM, Paralympic swimmers Col Pearse and Chloe Osborn, Olympic diver Sam Fricker, Olympic sailor Matt Wearn, Triathletes Melissa Hauschildt, Emma Jeffcoat and Craig Alexander and celebrity cook Hayden Quinn.

Starlight Ambassador Brooke Hanson OAM has been a long-time supporter of the Super Swim Challenge. She has her own personal connection to Starlight and has seen first-hand the direct impact that the funds raised throughout the Challenge have on those who need it most, seriously ill children in hospital.

“Starlight has a special place in my heart as it’s supported my family during some extremely tough days in hospital. Whether it’s just a hand on your shoulder to say, ‘It’s okay,’ or having a cup of tea in the Starlight Express Room, it really makes a difference. So, in February, I encourage all Australians to join me for the 2025 Super Swim challenge. Together, we can make a difference for sick kids and their families.”

Starlight National Partnerships Manger, Matt Geraghty emphasises the importance of bringing joy to sick children when they need it most.

“Everyone should be able to experience a happy childhood, but for children diagnosed with a serious illness, happiness can be seriously impacted when they are facing the uncertainty of their diagnosis.”

“By taking part in the Super Swim challenge you will be helping Starlight turn their pain, stress, and fear of hospitalisation into fun, joy and laughter. Dive in with us this February and help bring much-needed happiness to sick kids at a time they need it most.”
