How Perform Physiotherapy can help with your headaches

Is a Tension-Type Headache Behind Your Daily Head Pain?

Tension-type Headaches are the most common headache in the world, yet they are often left untreated or managed with painkillers. If you regularly experience a tight, pressing sensation around your head, you’re far from alone, and there’s plenty that can we can do to help.

Tension-type Headaches typically feel like a dull, band-like pressure around the forehead, temples, or back of the head. They are often linked to muscle tension in the neck and upper back, prolonged static postures, fatigue, and stress.

Common symptoms include:

  • Dull, pressing or tightening pain
  • Pain to one or both sides of the head
  • Tenderness in the neck or shoulders
  • Pain that worsens through the day

These symptoms are often managed with medication alone, but frequent reliance on pain relief can actually worsen the severity and frequency of the headaches over time. Physiotherapy offers a hands-on approach to identify and address the drivers of your headaches – including neck mobility, muscle tension, and posture with lasting results.

If headaches are a regular part of your week, consider booking a consultation with one of our physiotherapists for an individualised assessment and treatment plan to ease your headaches for good. NARC members also receive 10% off all bookings. Mention you’re a NARC member at booking and remember to show your membership wristband at your appointment.
